I planned a panel called “What’s the Tea?: Being Black at the School of Social Work (SSW).” This was co-facilitated by my colleague in the Association for Black Social Workers, Tiana Jones, and me, representing Black Radical Healing Pathways. As we were thinking of panelists who would be honest and fair in their reflections about their time in the program, we were so excited to ask Violeta to share her thoughts and wisdom. Violeta was able to appreciate and discuss the nuisances of being Black in the SSW. Finding people to who can come into conversations and guide folks through “the grey” is a rare find. Violeta does this effortlessly. We are so grateful to her for agreeing to share her knowledge with the community.
